Seat of Kerr County, one of state's most popular health and recreation centers. Area believed by many to have most ideal climate in the nation. More than two dozen boys' and girls' camps, scores of hotels, motels and religious encampments attract thousands annually. White-tailed deer are so numerous that motorists are cautioned to be on the alert for them, especially at night.

Outdoor activities include numerous city parks like Louise Hays Park located downtown on the Guadalupe River, and features fishing, canoeing and kayaking, swimming, picnicking and playground. Municipal tennis center, public and private golf courses, horseback riding, camping, bicycling, shopping and river. Many "Winter Texans" make Kerrville their home half of the year. Industries include Mooney Aircraft and James Avery Craftsman.

Annual events include the Texas State Arts & Crafts Fair and the Kerrville Folk Festival, both held on Memorial Day weekend, the Wine & Music Festival on Labor Day weekend, Kerr County Fair in Oct., and the Hill Country Easter Bike Tour and Easter Festival held Easter weekend.
