Charles Dulac was a brilliant lithographer in late 19th-century France whose works were greatly admired by his contemporaries, including Toulouse-Lautrec. Unfortunately, Dulac died at an early age, and his works are rare. In fact, he created only two complete print suites, Cantique des Créatures and Suite de Paysages. The McNay is one of the few print collections in the world that have both. This exhibition will be an opportunity to see his two masterpieces side-by-side--a very rare occasion. The McNay’s two suites are both deluxe editions with rare color proofs included so the show will also provide a glimpse into the working methods of a highly inventive lithographer.
