Fiesta Edinburg

Fiesta Edinburg commemorates the naming of this community as the county seat, which came about in a dramatic, nighttime covert operation in which the county records were spirited away from the previous county seat in Hidalgo. The community was originally named after land promoter Dennis Chapin, but it was changed after Chapin's involvement in a murder in 1911--the town incorporated as Edinburg (named for Edinburgh, Scotland) in 1919.

Now in its 40th year, this weeklong celebration includes the Heart of America Carnival, regional food, arts and crafts, and top-notch entertainment.
