The settlement of the Texas frontier was made possible in part by the firearms of the times. Pioneers, soldiers and lawmen always had firearms handy, as did Native Americans once firearms entered Texas.
This exhibit illustrates how the evolution of firearms from flintlock to cartridge is interwoven with the history of the industrial revolution, the birth of Texas and the Alamo. The story is told through a special temporary exhibit at the Alamo featuring historical firearms as well as hands-on demonstrations using modern replicas.
