George West Storyfest

Hear stories in a variety of genres on the grounds of the Live Oak County Courthouse. Approximately 15 professional storytellers and cowboy poets, as well as musicians, living history re-enactors and others are on hand to entertain audiences.

On the Friday evening before Storyfest, enjoy "€œDobie Dichos: Campfires, Chili con Carne, and the Words of J. Frank Dobie" in historic Oakville. Tickets are required.

The main day of activity is Saturday, which begins with a 5K fun run/walk, followed by the Little Red Wagon Parade. One of the highlights of Storyfest is the Texas State Liars'€™ Contest, now in its 10th year. Storytelling and music are featured on three stages throughout the day and into the evening, culminating with Ghost Stories after dark. A street dance with music by Two Tons of Steel close out the festival.

On Sunday morning, the Church of Christ hosts Sacred Stories.
