This dramatic 130-piece traveling exhibit features the contemporary works of internationally acclaimed Russian-Swedish abstract expressionist, Ludmila Pawlowska.
Featuring paintings and sculptures created over the past decade, "Icons in Transformation" explores the interaction between traditional icons painted at Vassilevsky Monastery (Russia) and Pawlowska’s own artwork that explores what it means to be known, seen and loved by God. Rather than stimulating the senses and emotions, icons are meant to exert a calming influence, allowing the viewer to step free of everyday concerns.
The opening reception with the artist is Sunday, Jan. 18, from 5-8 p.m.
