This traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian Institution's Museums on Main Street program explores stories of how we and our ancestors came to America and spread across the country. American history is filled with stories of people leaving behind everything--families and possessions--to reach a new life in another state, across the continent, or even across an ocean.
Marshall, a major port of entry into Texas during "Gone to Texas" years, is the first stop of a six location tour across Texas. The exhibit is brought to Texas by the Texas State Historical Association and the Smithsonian Institution.
