"Made in Texas: Art, Life & Culture 1845-1900"

This exhibition of 19th-century Texas furniture, paintings, textiles, silver and pottery reveals what life was like in early Texas from 1845-1900. It is set up in vignettes throughout the museum and that focus on how the objects were used and what stories they tell about the people who made or used them--a wonderful lesson in early Texas history.

Organized by Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, this exhibit includes works from Bayou Bend and The Heritage Society, Houston, along with items from the private collections of Houstonians William J. Hill and Bobbie and John Nau, many of which have never before been on public view.
