Matagorda Island Wildlife Management Area

Formerly used for practice bombing, the 7,325-acre area has largely returned to its natural state as a haven for waterfowl and deer. Birding is very popular with more than 300 species of migratory birds documented. The park is south of Port O'Connor, separated from the mainland by Espirito Santo and San Antonio Bays.
