Mexic-Arte Museum is pleased to present two exhibitions featuring works of art from its permanent collection. The first exhibit, "Selections from the Contemporary Art Collection," features an array of works in a variety of media by Mexican, Latino and Latin American artists such as David "Shek" Vega, Adriana Corral, Miguel Aragon and Gil Rocha. This exhibition will mark the first time that the Museum will hold a permanent collection exhibit focused on its Contemporary Art Collection.
In the Annex gallery, "Selections from the Changarrito Collection: 2012-2014" highlights works of art acquired during the Changarrito Residencies. A "changarrito" is an art vending cart, conceptualized by artist Maximo Gonzalez as an alternative to the official gallery selections presented by the Mexican cultural authorities. The exhibition displays works including tapes, toys, miniature sculpture, paintings, sketches, 'zines and other portable works of art by more than 20 artists.
