In the nearby Czech village of Praha, this modest frame church dates from 1895, making it one of the oldest of the state's famous "painted churches." Features Art Nouveau-style paintings and mock architectural details. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The adjacent cemetery is the site of an annual Veterans Day memorial service, said to be the most attended in the United States. Nine Praha youth who fell in World War II are buried here--a heavy toll for one tiny Texas community.
