The town, at the edge of the Hill Country is on the old Dodge Cattle Trail. Courthouse square features craft and antique shops. Several historical markers note the geographical center of Texas, but one on private property was pinpointed as the exact center point of the state. Area parks offer year-round fishing, RV hookups and primitive campsites. Events include Armed Forces Fly-In in May, July Jubilee in July and the World Championship Goat Cook-Off on Labor Day Weekend and Hogtoberfest in October.
