Known as the Gateway to the Panhandle (located in the southern edge of the Texas Panhandle) and Crossroads of Hospitality (crossroads of U.S. 287 and U.S. 83). Hunters come to hunt deer, quail, dove and hogs. Local lakes are popular for bass fishing. Fair Park has a historical marker for the Goodnight Trail--an extension of the famed Goodnight-Loving Trail over which herds of cattle trekked to market. A veterans memorial on the courthouse lawn honors those who served during the 20th-century. The city still has many original brick streets.
