One of Texas' first oil refineries was built here, and the city was the first in the state to use natural gas for fuel. A walking tour of historic downtown starts at the visitor center. Walk or drive the historic neighborhoods. The Collin Street Bakery, known worldwide for its "DeLuxe" Fruitcake, a favorite since 1896. The Palace, a restored vaudeville theater on Sixth Avenue, hosts a variety of performing artists. Temple Beth-El with its onion domes, reflects Corsicana's Jewish heritage (208 S. 15th St.).
