First known as Duncan Switch, the city was established when the Chicago, Texas and Mexican Central Railroad Co. wanted to build a line from Dallas to Cleburne in 1881. The name changed to Duncanville in 1882. Today, visitors to this southwestern Dallas County city can find hiking and biking trails in area, as well as antique shops, arts and crafts, and boutiques downtown.
