This town is in the Brazos River Valley on Lake Granbury. Notable figures such as John Wilkes Booth, Carrie Nation and Davy Crockett have history in the community. Today, Granbury offers golf, shopping on the square and a local winery. The Brazos Drive-In Theater is one of a few such theaters still operating in Texas. The renovated Granbury Opera House hosts live performances. Bed-and-breakfast accommodations in historic buildings are available. City Beach Park has a white sand beach, a boat ramp and picnic areas. Events include Texas Independence Day in March, the Granbury Wine Walk in April, the Harvest Moon Festival in October and Granbury: A Candlelight Tour in December.
