Pronounced "HIGH-coe," this city was named for the founder's hometown in Kentucky. Downtown features antique stores, an artist studio and restaurants. The historic home of photographer Frank Rufus Wiseman now houses a chocolate company and antiques (406 W. Grubbs Road). One of the oldest Old Settler's Reunions is held in July. Hico also hosts the largest steak cook-off in Texas in May.
