This is one of the most beautiful, cultural and historically rich regions of Texas. Home of vast lumber and wood-products industries, this city also offers access to outdoor recreation in nearby national forests and the Sam Rayburn Reservoir. The chamber of commerce and many local businesses can provide recreational maps of the reservoir.
The area produces more than 1 million board-feet of saw timber annually and major volume of pulp wood. Sites of historical interest are marked throughout the city. Home to Angelina Junior College.
Cassels-Boykin County Park offers a courtesy pier and boat ramp access to the lake.
