The discovery of medicinal qualities in local waters made Mineral Wells famous in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was said that the waters of the Crazy Well could cure mental illness and a long list of other ailments. Visitors still have the opportunity to taste these waters as well as other activities such as antique shopping, paddling the Brazos River and digging for fossils. Bicycle races and rallies are held throughout the Palo Pinto Mountain Range. The historic Baker Hotel can be seen at 200 E. Hubbard St. (www.thebakerhotel.com).
