Moulton was established in the 1850s at the headwaters of the Lavaca River in Lavaca County. The city's Czech-German heritage is still evident. Several historical markers are found in the city, as well as the original Old Moulton town site--most of the town drifted from this site to be closer to the railroad when it was built through.

Quaint storefronts are reminiscent of the late 1800s, complete with porches and benches. Bed-and-breakfast accommodations are available.

The Annual Moulton Town and Country Jamboree is held the last full weekend in July, with the famous fried-chicken dinner Sunday.
