On the Brazos River in Baylor County, this city was established in 1879 by Oregon settlers. Artist Tom Lea was contracted in April 1941 to paint a mural depicting early life in Seymour and Baylor County - when the Comanche tribes were an integral part of life. The mural can be seen in the post office building at 210 N. Washington.
