Audie Murphy Day, hosted by the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum, celebrates the most decorated combat soldier of World War II, along with military veterans and currently serving military members. The event centers on the life of the Hunt County native who went on to become a war hero, Hollywood film star, and accomplished songwriter. On Friday night, the movie “The Wild and The Innocent,” starring Murphy, is shown at the museum. Saturday morning’s events are held at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center, then move to the the museum. Featured speakers include Kevin Hymel, a film historian who is presenting “The Six Triple Eight: From Forgotten Women to World Premiere,” and Kara Dixon Vuic, author of “The Girls Next Door.” There is also a Q&A with Valerie Ojala Keller, whose father was good friends with Murphy and a quick draw artist in Hollywood.
