Juneteeth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Festivities include a flag raising, Miss Juneteenth scholarship pageant, art exhibit, honors banquet, and Miss Opal's walk and caravan, where 94-year-old Opal Lee undergoes her annual 2.5-mile walking campaign to make Juneteenth a National Day of Observance.
