  • Time: Aug. 15-Nov. 30
Fall migration brings tens of thousands of raptors through this area, and the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory strives to track that movement. Come see and learn about 20-plus species of raptors as they come through the area in the thousands. The watch is held daily at the Candy Abshier Wildlife Management Area where GCBO has a 30-foot observation tower. This is a free event and volunteers are on-site daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to count birds and answer questions. On Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., come to the Smith Point Hawk Watch Celebration at the hawk watch. There is food, drinks, a raptor presentation, and hopefully some live raptors on display.
