Since 1954, the Luling Watermelon Thump has celebrated the growers and the town's watermelon market. Over the years the event has offered live music all weekend, an exhibitors' market, carnival, world champion seed spitting, the crowning of the thump queen, a car show, kids entertainment, a grand parade, an arts and crafts show, and fun contests.
