Explore Texas Beyond the Matches

It’s no secret soccer runs deep in Texas, but the World Cup will expand that energy across the state, turning host (and base-camp) cities into hubs for food, culture, and nightlife. As of late 2025, base camps have been confirmed in Denton, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Austin where national teams, their crews, and traveling fans will settle in ahead of the tournament.

A Team Base Camp is where players train, rest, and prepare for their matches, effectively becoming their home away from home.  Should we tease on a few possible Base camp cities under consideration include:

Fort Worth

While you’re in town for the World Cup, you can spend your downtime exploring the Fort Worth Stockyards, touring the museums in the Cultural District, or head to Magnolia Avenue, where fans will cheer over Texas barbecue and local pours.. And if you’re looking for nightlife after the matches, Sundance Square’s patios, and live-music spots keep the energy going well into the evening.

San Antonio

In San Antonio, most of the World Cup action will happen around the iconic River Walk. But head just a bit beyond downtown and you’ll land in Southtown or the Pearl District, both perfect for sampling the city’s foodie and creative side. Check out live music at the Pearl Amphitheater, grab snacks at a farmers market, or explore San Antonio art galleries during First Friday. If you need a breather, take a walk through the city’s historic missions, explore the Alamo, or cruise on a river barge.

Austin

With Austin FC fueling the city’s soccer spirit, Austin carries big-event energy throughout World Cup season. Wander through downtown, explore the 2nd Street District, or browse the shops along South Congress. For fresh air, visit Zilker Park or the Hike and Bike Trail along Lady Bird Lake. Cap off your time with stops at the State Capitol and the lively Rainey Street Historic District.
