The town was named for frontiersman David Crockett, who stopped here on his way to the Alamo. It is among the oldest towns in Texas and the site of many historic structures. The Architectural District features beautiful buildings, churches, shops and restaurants. A statue of blues legend and native son Lightnin' Hopkins stands in Old Town across the street from the historic Camp Street Cafe. The Trinity and Neches rivers, several lakes and bayous are nearby. Events include the World Championship Fiddlers' Festival and Regional Steak Cook-Off in June and Christmas in Crockett in November.
