The town was named for Sgt. William Jasper, a hero of the American Revolution. The town square features a historic courthouse, bed-and-breakfasts, art galleries, outdoor sculptures, antique shops, murals and the old county jail. The historic Beaty-Orton House may be toured by appointment (409/384-4651). Sandy Creek Park features a playground, fishing ponds, walking trail, picnic areas and a pavilion over the water. Events include the Jasper Air Show in the fall, Azalea Festival in March, July 4 Celebration, Butterfly Festival in October and Christmas in the Park in November.
